The world of foundation can be mind boggling. From ‘dewy’ finishes, to must have formulas, to full on coverage… where oh where do you begin? For me, foundation is my number one priority. If I had two minutes to grab one piece of make-up and only use that for the next month – I know what I’d be grappling for. When your skin looks good, you feel good and the rest of your make-up just compliments everything else…. So, long story short let me introduce you to Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation. A fave of beauty bloggers and make-up lovers alike – I put this baby to the test to see what it could do.
This foundation is hailed as a make-up A-lister thanks to it’s ‘dewy skin’ giving properties, it’s ability to give your tired complexion a kick up the backside, while keeping it hydrated and blurring imperfections. Sounds like a dream!
While it promises to cover a multitude of ‘flaws’ for me, it was a bit of a slacker in terms of coverage. Light? Yes. Glowy? Of course. Did I love it? Not so much. While the pictures make this baby look like a miracle worker, the foundation didn’t last for more than an hour or two on my face. After which point I just looked like my former blotchy nosed, Rudolph wannabe, once again.
If you don’t live in a super humid climate, this might work for you, and yes it does make your skin look good for a bit. While I like the fact that it’s lightweight and easy to blend, this is one of those products that doesn’t work hard enough. If you’re having a good skin day, this will make it look even better. If you have blemishes – this foundation just won’t cut it. I like it – but not as my only foundation. It’s nice for those days when you want a little glow and your skin is clear enough to take a light coverage. Don’t worry, there are plenty more *foundation* fish in the sea!
