The Suncream

If the mind boggling world of sun cream has your noodle in a twist, this post may help to clarify things.  In a nut shell though, buy yourself a good one. Don’t scrimp when it comes to protecting your skin and always, always buy a sun cream that’s specifically for your face! I love La Roche-Posay for the face as it works and doesn’t leave you with clogged up pores or any white hue to the skin. I’m also a big fan of the brand Super Goop for the same reasons.

I’m lazy when it comes to applying sun cream to the bod – I mean, I’ve got rays to catch and cocktails to drink.. ain’t nobody got time for an hours worth of slathering. So – I reach for the spray can version. Apply inside before you hit the beach and be super thorough with this otherwise you may miss some areas and you could end up burning. Look out for the UVA star rating  – the higher the stars the better the protection. Lastly, you should wear high protection. There is nothing cool about burning. Nothing I tells ya! But.. if you do burn in the sun… read this!

 The Lip Balm

Lips burn too! Make sure you get yourself a nice lip balm. I’m still loving the EOS lip balms – mainly for their cool dome shape and nice scent. Snag yourself one that has some sun cream in it and you’ll be ready to hit the beach. The Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms are also lovely and have the perfect tint to bring some colour to your face when catching those rays.

The Post Sun Shimmer

You’ve got that golden glow and now it’s time to make the most of it! Enhance that tan and make your pins look incredible in that playsuit with a little shimmer oil. I like the Honey Bronze shimmering dry oil from The Body Shop for a some understated glamour, making your legs look longer and leaner.

The Summer Skin

Go for a BB cream in the summer as it will adapt to your new, more golden hue. I’m on to my second tube of The Body Shop’s BB cream as it gives you the loveliest “I just woke us like this” glow, whilst hidding imperfections. Another good one to take on your travels is the Stila HD Bronzing Beauty Balm. Covering up a multitude of skincare woes, whilst keeping you looking like the bronze babe that you are, this is a mighty bottle of goodness that deserves a break in the sun.

The Shine Free Face

At school, people used to wonder if I polished my face. It’s that shiny. So, when someone tells me that a sun cream won’t make me shiny, I know better. If you want to keep the shine at bay, the best way is to snag yourself a matifying lotion – or my must have product – a powder. This will help to keep that holiday glow, just a glow – not a full on sweaty Betty face. Blotting papers are also great for soaking up excess oil on your face.

Lastly, at night make sure you cleanse your face really well. The combination of heat and sunscreen can make the best of complexions have a break out – even if you bought the good stuff. So cleanse that greasy face real good. And if you’re feeling adventurous a deep cleansing mask wouldn’t go a miss.

Come on holiday!!
