Ever since watching ‘Sense and Sensibility’ I’ve had a thing for a stained lip and flushed cheeks – the make-up that looks like you’ve been on a brisk walk across fields, in the hopes of spotting ‘Willoughby’ *swoon* I love Kate Winslet in that film, she is impossibly perfect in her role, and if you were to ever ‘get into’ Jane Austen, this film is your best bet. Watch it, watch it now. I digress…. I also love that kind of make-up for Winter. It’s fresh, it’s simple, and if you’re afraid of the classic winter ‘red lip’ then a stained lip is just the ticket. Nice and safe, but with pretty results, that won’t make you look washed out.
As my skin is much lighter post summer, I’ve managed to return to my Dior BB Creme, which I’m re-discovering my love for. In the not so bright Wintery light, this doesn’t seem as iridescent as I once thought it was, and it suits my skin tone far better. For a matte finish, I dust over Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in warm beige.
To give a little warmth to the cheeks I swirl on Bourjois Bronzing Powder, then using my Beauty Blender *love* I ‘bounce’ on Josie Maran’s Coconut Water Color Cheek Gelee which is the ultimate cheek stain, for creating a flushed finish.
The eye’s are kept neutral with just a sweep of ‘naked’ from the Naked Palette, and finished of with a slick of Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Mascara – yep, I still love the stuff. Finally, to finish off this super easy quick look, the most important make-up item is whipped out. Oh yes – that would be the lip stain. I used Stainiac that I received in my ‘October Birchbox’ and I wasn’t disappointed. This tiny vile of pinky goodness gives you just enough ‘stain’ to make it appear that you lips may actually be that color. If you’re a ‘glossy’ girl you may want to add some lip balm over this for added moisture, but that wouldn’t be true to the film! Just kidding.
The perfect Wintery look in my opinion and one that could definitely be executed on a busy morning. Plus, that stain won’t budge for a while, and you can achieve all this without stepping foot *or freezing* in a field. What’s not to love?
