Ever since I moved to America I became increasingly aware of what went into my food. With talk of GMO’s, pesticides hormones and other nasties, it almost became a bit of a minefield to know what to eat, that was both good for you and also tasted delish! So, when I moved back to London I was delighted by the fact that so many amazing healthy food cafes had popped up everywhere. Nama Foods is one of my absolute favourite places to tuck into healthy delicious fare. Located in the heart of Notting Hill, this tiny unassuming restaurant is guaranteed to blow your socks off with it’s impressive menu and unique philosophy.
All the dishes rustled up at this foodie haven are plant based and the idea behind eating this way is that you are tucking into the most nutritious dishes possible, that in turn give you energy and help you feel like the best possible you. I decided to go for ‘vegan’ raw ‘spaghetti which was actually courgette ribbons masquerading as pasta. It’s absolutely delicious food and I’ve never been disappointed with a single thing I’ve eaten there.
Raw food is supposed to be one of the healthiest types of food available as it’s the closest thing to nature as possible. Basically the food hasn’t been processed, treated or cooked above a temperature of 115F. I took my very sceptical mum along for dinner one night and after quizzing the waitress on all the reasons why it was good to eat this way, then tucking into her ‘raw’ lasagne, she was absolutely converted! I’m not going to pretend I eat this way everyday, because frankly I don’t have the time or bank balance for that, but for a healthy delicious treat this is my favourite place in London to go to. Word of warning – book in advance! This place has had so much fab press it’s almost bursting at the rafters. Don’t you just hate when that happens!
