If you’re somewhat familiar with the beauty blogging scene, I’m going to go ahead and guess that you’ve heard about Pixi Glow Tonic before now. It has caused quite the stir, with endless bloggers traipsing to the flagship Pixi store to try and get their mitts on a bottle of this liquid ‘glow.’ I was indeed one of them, and the first time I went they had sold out. Second time lucky, and now the Pixi store has bottles of the stuff – in preparation for all it’s fans.
So first off as the picture will show, I’ve used this for a while to give it a fair test. Now we need to address what the Pixi Glow Tonic actually is! You might think it’s merely a toner but how wrong you would be! This my friends is so much more than a toner. Think of it as an exfoliator minus the scrubby bits – cleaning your skin and banishing oil and dirt from your visage. This contains zero alcohol so it’s a lot kinder to sensitive complexions and aims to pep up dull skin. With ingredients like glycerin, ginseng and aloe vera, the glow tonic is supposed to help you shed dead skin cells while keeping your skin soft – and of course giving one’s self a lovely glow!
So was it worth the hype?
Well I love the way that it makes my skin feel totally clean. Even after I’ve cleansed my face, one quick sweep of this on a cotton pad tells a different story. It really does remove every trace of dirt and make-up from the day. Personally it was a little too drying to use both morning and night – and with the harsh winter weather I tend to only reach for this about 2-3 times a week. I’m not so sure I experienced the much ‘hyped’ glow. I don’t know….maybe I just had crazy expectations of waking up looking like a supermodel in Barbados. Having said that, this could very well be one of those products that you really don’t see what it’s doing to your skin until you stop using it. Much like the Este Lauder’s ANR.
For now I’ll keep using this, but I’m not sure I will desperate to buy it again once it’s finished.
Have you tried Pixi Glow Tonic? What did you think?
