We all know that skin care is personal, but nothing gets quite as personal as Samaya Skincare. Pop along to the site and you’re invited to answer a few simple questions to find out your Dosha ( the name given to the energies that govern every individual.) As a skin care brand based on Ayurveda, which is the belief that balance and lifestyle go hand in hand – getting to know the customer is key.
How about that for a refreshing way to approach your skin care routine?!
So what’s Ayurveda and Samaya Skincare all about?
Well, to put it simply Ayurveda is a holistic principle that has evolved over millennia and it’s known for its effectiveness as a natural form of healing. At the core is the concept that if you have harmony between the mind, body and soul, you’ll see the effects in your health and well being – both internally and externally.
This was like music to my yoga matt wielding ears and goodness knows that I love to take a personality quiz or two! Here’s looking at you Buzz Feed.
Based on Ayurvedic principles, SAMAYA has three individually formulated ranges tailored to your specific dosha. After discovering your own dosha type as either Vata, Pitta or Kapha, you can select the individual SAMAYA range that will work best for you to achieve perfect balance. Each of the three dosha ranges consist of an all-natural blend of botanical ingredients, giving each range a unique aroma that brings a relaxed serenity through the SAMAYA experience.

The quiz revealed that my Dosha is Vata… so I set about testing the Vata Cleanser.
Energetic and creative in balance, but worried, tired and indecisive when out of balance. Often of slender build and suffers from cold hands and feet. Tends to have delicate dry skin and hair, which may need extra moisturising and nourishment to keep it glowing and healthy.
So how was the Vata Samaya cleanser?
The first thing that struck me about the Samaya Skincare Cleanser was how indulgent and spa like this product felt. Simply massage into the skin, enjoy the aromas and then use a wet, hot muslin cloth to remove. My skin was left feeling soft, purified and beautifully cleansed. I don’t recommend using without a muslin or something to remove it, as it’s quite thick and could end up leaving your skin feeling greasy. It’s very creamy in consistency, so perfect for those with dry complexions – but when you do the quiz and you’ll find the range that’s ideal for you. At £69 for 100ml it definitely falls into the luxury bracket, but with pure anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing ingredients, you can see why this range is a little pricier.
