Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you know what contouring is. It can be a baffling ol’ world trying to sculpt one’s own face with make-up. There’s what I like to call the ‘scary’ looking Kim Kardashian style, which looks fantastic once it’s done but not ideal to do when you’re late for work and you still can’t find your shoes….
The world of contouring has blown up. It’s almost a celebrity in it’s own right. But, before all those crazy looking pictures of gals with bright white and dark lines all over their faces ( you know the ones) there was something much, much simpler. Let me introduce you to The Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. Quite simply – this is contouring for neewbies at it’s best. A great one for day or night, and it can can even be whipped out pre-work. Should you feel like getting your ‘Kim’ on.
Kevyn Aucoin is an amazing professional make-up brand with seriously high quality products. Kevyn was one of the first make-up artists that I ever got into when my love of make-up began and he really did pioneer the idea of contouring ( if you ask me!)
The unique combination of brown, red and grey pigments in The Sculpting Powder is supposed to make this a universally flattering shade that suits all skin tones – allowing you to contour like a pro without looking you’re caked in make-up! It’s a very sheer formula and glides on effortlessly, but I find that you need to blend it in well to avoid it looking dirty. I like to use it directly under my cheekbones, to try and create some definition to my hamster-esque cheeks. I would normally blend this in a lot more than the above picture shows – but I’ve applied it quite heavy handedly for demonstration purposes! Obvs…
Contouring is not for everyone but if you want to give it a whirl, this product makes things that much easier. Simples.
